This year our Christmas campaign is to raise 1,000 hours of resource and support for charities and help make a difference.
Over the next few weeks, we’ll be campaigning to get as much help as possible from businesses to give the gift of time to our inspire* charities. We will culminate in a celebratory event on Wednesday 5 December at Canada House and we would be delighted for you to come along, meet our inspire* charities and hear more about the fantastic work that you could help them to do.
Below are some of the pledges we’ve received so far and information about the charities who need your help…
Home-Start UK
Home-start UK is a family support charity, supporting families with a child under five, that helps parents build better lives for their children. They aim to prevent crisis and improve the life chances of children in vulnerable families across Trafford, Salford and Wigan by improving parenting skills and families provide a nurturing family environment.
They recruit, train and support volunteers from the local community to visit families in their own homes for 2-3 hours every week to provide practical help, guidance and emotional support, helping to build parents’ self-esteem and confidence while building on their skills and helping them cope with the pressures of family life.
Their Pledge: More home-visiting volunteers to visit families in their own homes and a new trustee to manage their social media account
