gunnercooke
Business Crime partner, Simon Caltagirone, is in training to cycle 200 miles
from Tower Bridge in London to the Eiffel Tower in Paris in a gruelling
fundraising effort.
Simon will
be raising money for a charity dear to gunnercooke’s heart. Astriid
help the chronically ill get back into work so they can regain some
semblance of normality instead of being made to feel invisible. The charity is one of 40 supported by gunnercooke’s
social enterprise business, inspire*.
inspire* brings business and third sector
leaders together to offer mentoring, peer to peer learning, networking events
and workshops. It aims to help ambitious charities and not for profits to grow
and achieve their aims through coaching, developing leadership skills,
assisting with resource and skills gaps and ultimately helping to ‘Do Good,
Faster’.
Explaining
his motivation for taking part in the feat, Simon commented:
“Like so many busy business people, I let my sporting
abilities decline as I got older. I
decided now was the time to move on from my younger self as a rower and runner,
to a present-day cyclist, and having this goal is the perfect inspiration, as
is the work of Astriid. They understand
that the value of work goes far beyond the wages that are paid – work provides
routine, challenge, self-belief and ultimately the strength of hope.”
The event
is being professionally managed by TFA Ltd,
long term friends of Inspire* and the venture is supported by Salesforce,
who are themselves mounting a number of teams.
Simon is
aiming to raise £2,000. Donations can be
