Award winning challenger law firm gunnercooke
is delighted to have been shortlisted for the Law Company of the Year category
at this year’s Lawyer Awards.
The new category recognises the
innovative models recently appearing in the legal landscape.
gunnercooke differs from
traditional law firms in that its lawyers are given the flexibility and
autonomy to develop their practice in a way that suits both themselves and
their clients. All gunnercooke lawyers
have at least 10,000 hours in practice, meaning that they advise with the
authority of experience. Clients are assured expert advice delivered by a
trusted advisor on their corporate and commercial legal matters.
Unlike many traditional law firms, gunnercooke
does not run its business on time recording. At the outset of a matter, each
gunnercooke lawyer fully scopes and agrees a fixed price with the client, which
enables better budget management and transparency on costs. gunnercooke lawyers
are remunerated solely for the work they deliver – which drives an added degree
of commerciality across the firm. A high proportion of fees are generated via
referrals, so each lawyer is only as good as their last job, if they don’t deliver
brilliant service, they won’t get paid.
Clients are delighted with the
model, and the proof of success is in the growth of the firm. Within nine years gunnercooke has grown from the
brainchild of two pioneers, to become a partner network of over 180 senior
lawyers, operating as a full service corporate and commercial law firm. In 2018, the firm was named Large Law Firm of
the Year at The Law Society Excellence awards, as testament to the high
standards that the business has developed. The Lawyer Awards take place on 25
June at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London.
